Introducing Chakshu Portal: Your Shield Against Fraudulent Calls and Messages!
In a proactive move to curb fraud calls and fake messages, the Government has launched the Chakshu Portal under the Communication Companion initiative. This portal stands as a crucial step in thwarting fraudulent activities that often harass mobile users. It empowers customers to report suspicious fraud calls, misleading messages (like lottery offers and job scams), and even instances of businesses leaking phone numbers. The aim of the Chakshu Portal is to enhance vigilance and transparency in the telecommunications sector.
Central IT and Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnav emphasized that the essence of Chakshu is to report anything that raises doubt among people, indicating potential fraud. With this user-friendly platform, customers can swiftly report any suspicious communication, be it dubious calls, enticing SMSes, or WhatsApp messages. Such fraudulent cases may involve matters like bank accounts, payment wallets, SIM cards, gas connections, electricity accounts, KYC updates, and more.
Responding to concerns about leaked mobile numbers, Minister Vaishnav assured citizens that the Chakshu Portal would address this issue as well. Citizens can report instances of leaked subscriber numbers, leading to action against culprits. He highlighted that over the past nine months, more than a crore mobile numbers have been disconnected due to their involvement in fraudulent activities. Additionally, the Telecom Department has introduced a digital intelligence platform to enhance collaboration among law enforcement agencies, banks, and other financial institutions. This platform will facilitate the exchange of vital information necessary for effectively combating fraud.
