🎣🚫 WhatsApp's Latest Feature: Protect Yourself from Phishing, Scams!
WhatsApp is stepping up its game against phishing attacks like never before! The instant messaging platform, owned by Meta, is now educating its users on how to identify phishing attacks by examining unfamiliar WhatsApp messages for spelling, grammar, and other errors.
With the rapid increase in scams across the country, WhatsApp is introducing new safety features to its platform. The latest feature enhances the existing blocking functionality, allowing users to easily block contacts directly from their smartphone's lock screen. Previously, this wasn't possible, as users had to open an unknown message first and then follow additional steps to block the contact.
Now, WhatsApp users can block messages from unknown numbers directly from the lock screen, without even opening them. Similarly, they can also block unknown calls right from the lock screen. This means users won't need to open the app to do so.
This is a significant step considering the rising number of scams. Often, users of messaging apps like WhatsApp are troubled by spam messages or calls, some of which contain links capable of granting attackers complete access to their smartphones with just one click.
Advertisement Starting now, when users receive a spam message notification on their lock screen, they'll need to long-press on that notification to reveal various options. One of these options will be to block. After blocking, the messaging app will display another prompt, asking users to report the blocked sender.
Moreover, if you wish to block a contact, follow these steps: Settings > Privacy > Blocked contacts > Add. Here, search for or select the contact you want to block.
Stay safe from scams and phishing attacks with WhatsApp's latest safety features! 🛡️📲
